E-learning

Definition: E-learning is the possibility of transferring traditional classroom teaching and learning formats and methods into interactive electronic training and learning resources to facilitate border guards learning processes and outcomes.

E-learning can include the transfer of classroom materials for using independently, possibility to combine online learning with face-to-face communication activities during introductory, progress and final sessions. It can be independent learning, guided, or measured by trainers or supervisors)

E-learning strategy:  In order to improve border guards training and learning processes and outcomes, personnel and learners of border guard training institutions are constantly supported with up-to-date technical means and informative qualification improvement activities.  

Why e-learning?

 

  1. 1.      HOW DOES E-LEARNING HELP TEACHER?

 

  • Learning and teaching is not bounded for a classroom or a certain time. You can create the course and have an interactive role in the course where ever when you have just a computer and an internet!
  • You don’t need care how far away the students are; the courses can be as well national as international.
  • It's easy to monitor how the learning is progressing. In the e-learning environment there will stay student's "finger prints" what she/he has done or hasn't done.
  • In an e-learning course you can use many assessing tools and types of exams and exercises. Choosing them well decreases your work repairing and checking these exams and exercises. It can be done even automatically!
  • It takes time to create an e-learning course but when you've done it, it is useable even many years. The target group should be at least 200 learners that it is clever to create an e-learning course (Eoppiva, sivu 78). à Plan and make the courses well, it helps you later!
  • It is possible to use many pedagogical solutions under an e-learning course. In a contact teaching different solutions would perhaps take time and need special equipment.
  • It is easy way to offer for the students different styles to learn. Someone learns by reading, someone by listening, someone by watching pictures and reading hotspots etc.
  • Under an e-learning course you can easily make "pedagogical experiments" and if you notice that they aren't leading to learning, it is easy to change them.
  • Under an e-learning course you can obey Stappers rule "3-30-300" for giving for students a good possibility to learn à micro videos and audios, pictures with hot spots, mind maps etc.
